April 29, 2011Rizzieri Aveda School Congratulates our BEACON Winners!April 27, 2011Salt: The Unlikely Stress Buster
Salt improves our overall health. Salt is the essential component of the body’s extracellular fluids, helps carry nutrients into the cells and regulates various body functions, including bolstering our immune system and enabling healthy digestion. Additionally, salt contains a large variety of minerals, many of which are missing from our daily diet but essential for optimal health. Salt reduces stress. Insufficient magnesium levels put the body into a stress response state, but salt is rich in the mineral—and it helps combat stress in other ways. Ever feel at peace near the ocean? Apparently salt increases oxygen to the brain, which is good for stress. Salt assists in detox. While this benefit isn’t typically linked to salt that’s part of the diet, bathing in pure salt can help detoxify the body. The warm water helps open pores, allowing toxins to be released and permitting minerals to be absorbed by the body. April 26, 2011April 25, 2011Shower PowerConserve Water. Help the Planet with Rizzieri Aveda School. A recent national survey conducted by The Body Shop reveals some interesting findings: like that 69 percent of Americans would reduce shower time to conserve water and protect the environment. Did you know a typical showerhead uses about 7 gallons of water per minute? What about that the average person uses 70 gallons of water in their 10-minute shower? That’s 1,120 eight oz bottles of water. Here are some other stark stats: • 34% of consumers polled think that a 10-minute long shower wastes only 10 gallons of water Conserving water is a great, easy way to help the planet. The study also found that 76 percent of women report that they carry a makeup/skin care- related product in their purse regularly, with lipstick or lipgloss topping the list. And where are ladies spending their paychecks? Fragrance. An estimated 25 percent of women would use their paycheck to splurge on fragrance, and one in ten women said that if they could use their paycheck to splurge on one beauty product, they would choose foundation.
