Traveling alone can be stressful – trying to look good while traveling is a whole other story. Here are 18 quick tips to looking great while heading out to a family reunion, romantic getaway, or holiday vacation.
1. Moisturize – Apply intense moisturizer the night before you leave. 2. Forgo the foundation – Wear only moisturizer to help avoid dehydrated skin. 3. Mist with mineral water – This will refresh your make-up while traveling. 4. Blot out oily skin -Keep blotting or rice paper with you and dab your ‘t’ zone often. 5. Add some shimmer -Perk up a sallow complexion with a shimmer powder or cream. 6. Skip the long-lasting lipsticks – Use lip stain or lip gloss instead to avoid drying out. 7. Apply lip treatment liberally - A medicated lip balm is best to battle high heat or air conditioning often found in buses, airplanes, etc. 8. Chill out puffy eyes -Put crushed ice in a wash cloth and apply under eyes. 9. Perk up your peepers -Bring eye drops to soothe and lubricate eyes that can easily dry out after watching movies or reading on a long trip. 10. Love your naked lashes -Avoid wearing mascara to avoid looking like a spider at the end of your trip! 11. Banish bright polishes - Bare polishes don’t show chipping, which is likely! 12. Keep your hands off of your face - This will minimize breakouts. 13. Take a cleanser with you - An abrupt change in cleanser can disrupt your skin – take your cleanser with you! 14. Get your beauty rest - Don a sleeping mask and eye cream before getting some shut eye. 15. Slather on the hand cream -Never leave home without it! Hand cream can counter the effects of harsh, commercial-grade soap found in public bathrooms. 16. Pack your beauty products - Bring your high-end products along, because they are often much more expensive overseas. 17. Tame your tresses - Keep a natural boar bristle brush in your carry-on. 18. Get the grease out - Use a dry shampoo to clean and deodorize your hair & add volume.

Happy New Year! In honor of 2010, here are 10 beauty resolutions compiled from Julyne Derrick! Enjoy and make 2010 your best year ever.
1. No more studying your face for wrinkles. You’re never going to be younger than you are right now. So much of your beauty comes from within. Try to remember this.
2. Enjoy the moment. True happiness happens in the moment. Stop freaking out and savis the beautiful moments more.
3. More massages. Massages feed the soul. Make an appointment to get one at Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts.
4. Less sugar. Studies show that sugar can cause premature aging. Be more careful with the amounts of sugar that you put into your body.
5. More yoga. Yoga is like being given a Zen injection.
6. Post-shower moisturizer. Everyone suffers from the winter itch. Remember to slather yourself with moisturizer after each and every shower. You can purchase your favorite Aveda moisturizer at the Aveda Lifestyle Store at Rizzieri Aveda School.
7. Experiment with make-up. To get out of a beauty rut, try a new eyeshadow color, or even a new lipstick. Your co-workers and friends will notice, and you’ll feel better. Schedule a make-up consultation with a senior Skin Care student by calling 856-988-8600 x 0.
8. Teeth whitening. Changes your face! ‘Nuff said!
9. No more boring nail polish colors. Instead of going without polish, or pearl colors, add something fresh (grays and mattes are in right now). You’ll stare at your own hands, and so will others. Ask for a recommendation at Rizzieri’s Nail clinics at our School on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.
10. Compliment people. Tell someone you like their best feature/lipstick/nail color. When you give someone a compliment, they automatically brighten. Sometimes people struggle with issues and need to be reminded of what makes them special!
