Teacher Training Academic Policy

Satisfactory progress in attendance and academic work is a requirement for all students enrolled at Rizzieri Aveda School. Students receiving funds under any Federal Title IV financial aid program must maintain satisfactory progress in order to continue eligibility for such funds. Students who meet the minimum requirements for attendance progress shall be considered to be making satisfactory progress until the next scheduled evaluation.

Cosmetology, Skin Care, and Manicuring students must maintain 80% in academics and attendance in order to be considered making satisfactory progress. Teacher Training students must maintain 90% in academics and attendance in order to be considered making satisfactory progress.

Attendance Progress
In order to be considered making satisfactory attendance progress, a Teacher Training student must maintain a 90% attendance record. The 500-hour Teacher Training program has a flexible schedule that will be determined at the time of registration. The maximum time a student has to complete this course is within 550 hours.

Academic Progress
In order to be considered making satisfactory academic progress, Cosmetology, Skin Care, and Manicuring students must maintain an 80% academic record. Teacher Training students must maintain a 90% academic record.

Theory, practical and clinical work are used to determine academic process. Your progress at Rizzieri Aveda School will be evaluated on the basis of weekly written testes, daily clinic practical experiences, daily quota experiences, a final practical and written examination, and projects. Work will be graded according to the following percentage scale:

90-100 A Excellent
85-89 B Good
80-84 C Satisfactory
79-Below F Unsatisfactory

Evaluation of Attendance and Academic Progress
All students are evaluated 30-calendar days after the start date of the course and every 30-calendar days thereafter. During these evaluations, attendance and academic progress will be monitored. Students failing to make satisfactory progress in attendance and/or academics will be placed on probation for 30-calendar days. At the next evaluation period, if the student is not making satisfactory progress in both attendance and academics, the student will be terminated. However, if the student is making satisfactory progress in both attendance and academics, the student will be removed from probation and shall be considered to be making satisfactory progress and financial aid funds will be disbursed to eligible students. Students are only permitted one probationary period during their course of study.

Based on these monthly evaluations, a student will receive two report cards, one at the midpoint of the course, and one at the end of the course. A final evaluation will be placed in the student's file.
